Studio Policy
The following policies are designed to ensure a positive, safe, and respectful learning environment for all students and families at Columbia Conservatory of Dance. Enrollment indicates agreement with all studio policies outlined below.
Tuition & Payments
Tuition is due on the 1st of each month.
Accounts become delinquent after the 10th of the month and are subject to a $25 late fee.
Tuition is required regardless of attendance and is not prorated for missed classes, holidays, or weather closures.
All tuition is paid in 10 monthly installments (August–May).
Registration fees, performance fees, and costume fees are non-refundable.
Registration & Withdrawal
A $25 registration fee is required for all students each school year.
To withdraw from a class, written notification is required (email or letter).
Tuition will continue to be charged until written notice is received.
Verbal notice to instructors does not constitute withdrawal.
Attendance & Class Etiquette
Regular attendance is essential for student progress and group choreography.
Students arriving late may be asked to observe rather than participate.
Multiple instances of tardiness may result in dismissal from class.
Students should be dropped off no earlier than 15 minutes before class.
Students must be picked up within 15 minutes after class ends.
Dress Code & Grooming
Students must follow the CCD dress code for their class level and discipline.
Hair must be secured away from the face.
A bun is required for all ballet classes, regardless of level.
Dancewear and shoes should be clearly labeled with the student’s name.
Ballet alignment belts may be required for certain levels.
Students not properly dressed may be asked to observe.
Cell Phones, Food & Personal Items
Cell phones are not permitted in the studios during class.
No gum or food is allowed in the studios.
Only water in a closed, spill-proof bottle is permitted.
CCD is not responsible for lost or stolen personal belongings.
Parent Observation
Parents may observe classes only when permitted by the instructor.
Observation weeks or open classes will be announced in advance.
Excessive hallway traffic or disruptions are discouraged.
Behavior & Conduct
Respect for instructors, staff, fellow students, and studio property is expected at all times.
Inappropriate behavior or repeated disruptions may result in dismissal from class or studio without refund.
CCD reserves the right to determine appropriate placement and continued enrollment.
Performance & Costume Policies
Participation in performances may require additional rehearsal time.
A $50 performance fee is due with September tuition.
Costume fees ($85 per costume) are due with October tuition.
Costumes are ordered specifically for each dancer and are non-refundable.
Studio Closures & Weather
CCD follows its own closure policy and does not automatically close with local schools.
Weather-related closures or schedule changes will be communicated via social media.
Missed classes due to weather or unforeseen circumstances are not guaranteed make-ups.
Health & Safety
Students who are ill or injured should not attend class.
CCD reserves the right to request medical clearance if needed.
Parents must ensure emergency contact information is kept current.
Photography & Media
CCD may photograph or video classes and performances for promotional purposes.
Enrollment grants permission for student images to be used in studio marketing unless written notice is provided.
Placement
Student placement is at the sole discretion of the Conservatory faculty.
Placement decisions are based on technique, age, maturity, and class availability.
